This means that only Lindsey Vonn and Ingemar Stenmark have more victories in Alpine World Cup history than 27-year-old Shiffrin.

To touch Vonn, two more victories are needed – up to Stenmark, it is six.

- She is very stable, rarely makes mistakes and rides technically almost perfectly.

Right now she has self-confidence too, says the Swedish slalom star Anna Swenn Larsson to TT.

This week the ladies race slalom in Zagreb on Wednesday and Thursday and giant slalom in Kranjska Gora on Saturday and Sunday.

- She (Shiffrin) has been defeated in both giant slalom and slalom this year.

It's not like she's winning by a big margin, like it was four to five years ago when she was winning by two to three seconds every now and then.

So she has to ride well to stay at the top, says Swenn Larsson.

"Best of all time"

She approaches both Vonn and Stenmark, is she the best ever?

- I think she will break the record.

If it happens this year or next year, but I would say she will be the best of all time in the near future.

I actually think so, says Swenn Larsson.

What is it like to compete against such a rider?

- It's cool and inspiring.

She's a good sportswoman - but it's fun when you get to hit her every now and then.

You hope you get to do it a few more times.

The American is thus approaching both Vonn and Stenmark by leaps and bounds.

Something she herself is aware of.

- It would be a huge achievement in my career, perhaps the most significant.

It would mean that I have been consistently on top – despite injuries and some traumatic experiences, Shiffrin said at a pre-season press conference.
