William Poromaa was looking to climb the leaderboard on the second day of the Tour de Ski, when the 10km pursuit start was held in Val Müstair.
After going out one minute and one second off the lead, he steadily made up time, eventually finishing in seventh place.
It is also his position in the overall Tour de Ski.
Calle Halfvarsson started three seconds ahead of Poromaa and hung with his compatriot for a long time, but had to let go at the end and came in 13th place.
Who would win was never a big question mark.
Johannes Höstflot Kläbo led from start to finish.
Second was Pål Golberg and third was Federico Pellegrino.
