American freestyle swimmer Anita Alvarez passed out in the pool after her number at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest.
Alvarez had to be rescued from the bottom of a pool by his trainer, Andrea Fuentes.

American Sydney McLaughlin broke her own world record in the 400-meter hurdles during the World Athletics Championships in Eugene.
The 22-year-old was totally superior throughout the race, taking gold by a good margin and beating his own world record by 73 (!) hundredths.
The new record time: 50.68.

The Swedish triple jumper Jesper Hellström offered a strange jump in his first EC final.
Hellström took a wrong step and ended up landing on his back in the sand.
The clip went viral and Hellström finished in 10th place in the final.

Örgryte goalkeeper Robin Wallinder downed a drone that interfered with the match in progress.

Börje Salming was widely praised in Toronto after the news that the ice hockey legend had suffered from the nerve disease ALS.
Less than two weeks later, Börje Samling passed away at the age of 71.
