The Para WC in Östersund will begin on 20 January 2023 with an opening ceremony.

It is now clear which three skaters the home crowd will cheer on during the championship.

WC-merited Zebastian Modin, who has six WC medals already, is the squad's veteran.

In addition to WC medals, he also has eight Paralympic medals.

- Zebastian is unique.

He broke through in 2010 and since then has never had a bad season, I am deeply impressed by his determination and desire to always get better.

In the preseason he showed that he has taken further steps in his skating, if everything is correct he will fight for the medals in Östersund, says Swedish national team captain Leif Larsson in the press release.

16-year-old debutant selected

Modin is joined by two debutants in the squad, namely Louise Perottosdotter, 25, and Ellen Westerlund, 16. Westerlund made her World Cup debut in mid-December.

- Ellen is a name of the future.

She made it to the sprint final in her World Cup debut and has shown high capacity in a very short time.

She has just started the skiing high school in Lycksele and it will be exciting to follow her development in the coming years.

We must remember that both girls are championship debutants and this will be an important experience in their future development, says Larsson.

The championship is broadcast on SVT.
