The Australian Open tennis tournament awards are rising to a record high

The 2023 edition of the Australian Open, the first of the four major tennis tournaments, will be a record in terms of prize money, according to what the organizers announced today.

According to the organizers of the tournament, which will be held in the first month of next year, the increase will be 3.4 percent of the total prize money, to reach a record level of 76.5 million Australian dollars (51.6 million US dollars).

The winners of the men's and women's titles will each receive 2.975 million Australian dollars, while the prize money will be higher than ever for male and female players who will not even reach the final in both categories.

And everyone who ends his career in the first round will get 106,250 dollars, an increase of 3.2 percent, while everyone who reaches the second round will get a similar increase, bringing the prize to 158,850 dollars.

Tournament director Craig Tiley said the prize pool for the Australian summer season, which includes warm-up events for the first major tournaments, such as the inaugural United Mixed Cup, will exceed A$100 million for the first time.

The value of prize money for the Australian Open has increased by more than 321 percent, or 58.32 million Australian dollars, in the last twenty years, from 18.18 million Australian dollars.
