The overall prize pool for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the season which begins on January 16 in Melbourne, will reach the record figure of 76.5 million Australian dollars (48.3 million euros), in increase of 3.4%, according to the organizers.

In total, no less than 48.3 million euros will be distributed between the players present at the Grand Slam.

The winners of the women's and men's singles titles will each win 2.975 million Australian dollars (1.88 million euros) and the sums received by players eliminated in previous rounds are also increasing.

For an elimination in the 1st round, the amount received will be 106,250 AUD (more than 67,140 euros, up 3.2%) and in the 2nd round 158,850 AUD (about 100,000 euros).

Tournament director Craig Tiley has said that the total prize pool for tournaments played during the Australian summer will exceed 100 million Australian dollars for the first time, the equivalent of 63.2 million euros. .

"Being able to provide the best opportunities is key to ensuring the success of these tournaments and ensuring that the best players are rewarded as they should be," he said.
