One of the first to tell about the Brazilian icon's passing was his daughter Kely Nascimento.

“Everything we are is thanks to you.

We love you endlessly.

Rest in peace," she wrote on Instagram, where she posted a picture from the hospital, where she and other family members held their hands on Pelé's hands.

"He enchanted the world"

A post has also been published on Pelé's own Instagram account, with a picture of a smiling Pelé.

"Inspiration and love characterized the journey of King Pelé, who peacefully left us today.

During his travels, he enchanted the world with his sporting genius, he stopped a war, did charity work around the world and spread what he believed to be the cure for all problems: Love,” it says.

"Athlete of the century"

On the website of Santos (the club where he played for most of his career) you are greeted by a video with various pictures from his career, and several articles.

"He was the athlete of the century and the greatest player in football history," they write, among other things, in an article.

"Will always be immortal"

Even in the rest of the football world, there are many tributes.

“The most divine footballer, and happy human being.

He played a game that few have come close to.

He got to lift the most coveted trophy three times in the beautiful yellow jersey.

He may have left us, but he will always be immortal in football", writes for example the English legend Gary Lineker on Twitter.
