PSG announced on Wednesday evening the extension of the contract of its 30-year-old Italian midfielder until June 2026. Arrived in the capital in 2012 from Pescara, Verratti won 29 trophies with the Parisian club, of which he is the second most capped player.
Paris Saint-Germain have announced the extension of Italian midfielder Marco Verratti's contract until 2026, just before the kick-off of the match against Strasbourg on Wednesday.
"PSG and its president Nasser al-Khelaïfi are happy to announce a Christmas present, the extension until 2026 from Marco Verratti", launched the announcer from the Parc des Princes a few minutes from the start of the meeting counting for the 16th day of Ligue 1.
Verratti's contract (30 years old), which arrived in 2012, initially lasted until 2024.

Record of matches played with PSG
The "Little Owl" should break the record for matches played for PSG, held by Jean-Marc Pilorget (435).
The Italian is playing his 399th game in red and blue against Racing.
"It is an immense pride to extend my contract with Paris Saint-Germain," reacted Verratti in a statement from the club.
"It was obvious to me that my story would continue to be written here".
"Marco has played a central role in the history and success of the club over the past ten years," commented President al-Khelaïfi.
