At 3:00 pm last Friday, the Al-Mashtal Sports Club, west of Gaza City, was filled with 25 girls, young and old, who left their homes to practice a sport that contradicts the nature of their gentle femininity, to wear puffy leather gloves, and it was only a few moments until the place turned into a competition arena between soft arms .

These scenes of women's sports fencing were during a daily training session inside the first women's boxing club in Gaza, which was established and launched recently, in a bright image to simulate the women of the Gaza Strip.

global simulator

«Emirates Today» attended one of the training sessions at the Palestinian Center for Girls' Boxing, inside a hall designated for them in the Al Mashtal Sports Club, in the middle of which is a boxing ring prepared according to international standards, while it is surrounded by small and large rubber figures, for the girls to practice training properly.

The coach of the girls' team, Ibtisam Nasr, was closely monitoring the performance of young and old girls in the boxing ring, while giving them continuous observations, until they reached the best levels.

Boxing coach Ibtisam Nasr told Emirates Today, "The Palestinian Center for Girls' Boxing opened in 2017, to form a women's team capable of emulating the world, and adding this type of sport to Gaza, whose girls accept life from the midst of suffering that tightly surrounds their lives." .

It turned out that the women's team, which represents the Palestinian Boxing Federation, includes (25) girls, seven of whom are between nine and 17 years old, and nine girls between the ages of 17 and 20, and the rest represent the core of a newly established team in 2022, which includes women up to the age of 35.

Coach Nasr points out that the girls, who have acquired boxing skills, participate in local competitions, and have the ability to cross the borders of the blockade to participate in tournaments at the Arab and international levels.

Self-assurance

During the two-hour exercises, the girls, who ranged in age from nine to 20, demonstrated mastery of all the basic rules of rough sports, and this was evident during group training and individual fencing rounds.

The girl Rahaf Abunaji (17 years old), who has been practicing this sport for four years, joined the Palestinian Center for Girls’ Boxing, in fulfillment of her father’s wish, to acquire her skills in boxing, which has become the companion of her ambitions now. Boxing at the beginning was my father's desire, but today it never leaves my mind, as it has added to my daily life radical changes, the most important of which is enhancing self-confidence and self-defense, as it has become stronger than ever before.

She added, "What I used to see on television and social media of the boxing champions in the world, I now live with my colleagues on the ground within the borders of Gaza."
