Saint-Etienne continues to sink.

The historic club continued its way of the cross by losing 2 to 1 on the lawn of FC Annecy on Monday for the resumption of the French Ligue 2 championship after the truce of the World Cup and remains stuck in 20th and last place.

The Greens are at their worst.

Laurent Batlles' men lost for the eighth time this season after two cataclysmic half-time starts.

As often this season, the Stéphanois had a delay in the ignition, unlike FC Annecy who was quick to punish a feverish defense.

On a first overflow followed by a tense cross, Moïse Sahi Dion emerged to score with a Madjer heel (2nd minute).

Stunned but not beaten down, the Greens pushed but were sorely unrealistic (Moueffek in the 13th minute, Lobry in the 33rd minute and Wadji in the 40th minute).

On their lawn at the Parc des Sports, the Annecy residents doubled the lead barely five minutes after the restart, again taking advantage of the largesse of the opposing defense.

Sahi Dion, launched at the limit of offside, scored in two stages after his powerful shot was repelled by Saint-Etienne goalkeeper Matthieu Dreyer.

On a lawn in poor condition and in the pouring rain, the Greens, bottom of Ligue 2, were rewarded for their efforts, Léo Pétrot reducing the mark at the conclusion of a big mess (76th), but did not failed to equalise.

With 19 points, Annecy puts Saint-Etienne at eight points and temporarily rises to 13th place, four points ahead of the first relegation player.

This day of recovery is especially marked by the clash at the top between Le Havre, the leader, and its runner-up Bordeaux at the Océane stadium.

Kick-off was given at 7:05 p.m.
