The Arab champion, the star of the national cycling team, Marwa Salman (16 years old), confirmed that she could not control herself when she won her first gold medal at the team level, after she succeeded, accompanied by the UAE women's team, in winning the gold of the Arab Combined Cycling Championship held in Sharjah, and said "The gold is dedicated to her mother, who constantly supports her and is with her in all tournaments."

The Emirati women won eight medals, four gold, three silver and one bronze.

And three of the gold medals were achieved for the first time, and it is related to the gold medal in the team time trial, and the gold for the general individual race for the road, as well as Hoda Hussein winning the gold for the Arabs for young women.

Marwa Salman told Emirates Today: “I am very happy with the first gold medal that I achieved with the national team.

Last year, we achieved silver in Egypt in the same race against the clock, and there were only two teams in the tournament, but now the tournament witnessed the participation of five teams, and we succeeded in obtaining gold, which is a great achievement.

She added, "My mother is the password in this achievement. She is always with me in all races, even in the Arab Championship in Egypt last month. She left her job and was with me. Of course, this is the least I give her."

And she continued: «I constantly train with Al-Nasr Club, for about an hour and a half a day, and this does not affect my studies, but rather helps me in it.

She emphasized that her ambition is to continue the cycling game and continue her path with Al-Nasr Club and the national team to achieve more achievements in the coming period.

In today’s competitions, the mountain races will start within the Arab Championship, which will conclude tomorrow. Today, the cross-country race will be held for a distance of four kilometers in Al Hafiya Park in Kalba for the young women’s category, the female category, and the female category under 23 years, in addition to the youth category, while cross-country races will be held tomorrow for the junior category. Adults and under 23 years old.

The UAE leads the championship with 24 medals: 13 gold, seven silver and four bronze. Algeria comes second with 25 medals: eight gold, 10 silver and seven bronze.

"I am happy with the positive results that have been achieved in the championship so far, especially the achievement of women and the achievement of eight colored medals in road races, including medals that have not been achieved before," said Mansour Bouassiba, head of the Cycling Federation, in a press statement, praising the distinguished Arab participation in the various championship competitions.
