Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra regretted Friday the “pitiful” and “inelegant” behavior of certain Argentine players during the celebrations of the world title obtained against France, pinning in particular the goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

“I find it pitiful.

As much as our French team knew how to lose with panache, the way in which this Argentine team acted after this victory was not worthy of the match we saw, ”estimated the minister on RTL.

“Really not up to the challenges”

During the parade of Argentine players, winners of the World Cup by beating France in the final (3-3, 4 pens to 2), Emiliano Martinez was seen holding a doll representing a baby, whose face had been covered with a photo of Mbappé.

In the wake of the final, "Dibu" Martinez had already openly mocked the French star, author of three goals in the match, by singing in the locker room: "A minute of silence... for Mbappé", before being followed by his teammates.

"It's just vulgar, inappropriate, really not up to the challenge," continued Ms. Oudéa-Castéra, pointing to the behavior of "inelegant winners".

"This Emiliano Martinez is not distinguishing himself in this affair, it's rather pathetic".

The minister was satisfied that the president of the French Football Federation (FFF) Noël Le Graët had written to his Argentine counterpart to denounce, according to him, "abnormal excesses" during these celebrations.

The Federation also announced its intention to file a complaint against the authors of racist and hateful remarks on social networks against French players like Kingsley Coman and Aurélien Tchouaméni, who missed their shot on goal in the final.
