The 11th round of the ADNOC Professional Football League witnessed the application of the Referees Committee in the Football Association to actually calculate the time instead of lost, similar to what happened recently in the Qatar World Cup 2022. According to the arbitration law issued by the International Federation (FIFA), there are five cases during which time is calculated instead of Lost in matches, represented in the interruption of play due to players’ injuries, as well as the process of switching players, and the video referee (mouse) stops to ensure the correctness of arbitration cases, as well as the celebration of scoring goals, in addition to other exaggerated stops.

The former international football referee, Yaqoub Al-Hammadi, said that calculating the lost time in our league matches according to the cases specified in the Arbitration Law is a positive matter for preserving the rights of clubs, in addition to that this matter prevents manipulation and waste of time.

Al-Hammadi told Emirates Today: "The good thing about calculating the lost time is that everything is now accurately calculated, including the fall of any player on the field, and other cases that lead to wasting time."

Regarding its working mechanism, Al-Hammadi explained, "There is a specific form in this regard through which all stoppages are accurately monitored, and this matter we saw in the 2022 World Cup."

Al-Hammadi indicated that the video assistant referee records the cases of lost time.

He added, "We saw in the last World Cup that the actual stoppage time was accurately calculated, as the stoppage time sometimes reached 12 and 13 minutes, as if we were playing an extra half."

Al-Hammadi confirmed that there are clubs in the league that benefited from calculating stoppage time in scoring goals, as happened in the Al-Wehda and Khorfakkan match, which ended in a 2-2 draw. “8 + 90”, while in Al Jazira’s 4-2 victory over Al Bataeh, Al Jazira scored its fourth goal through Zayed Al Ameri in “5 + 90”.
