Back from Qatar, where they spent 35 days covering the entire World Cup, Jean-François Pérès, Jacques Vendroux and Cyril de La Morinerie returned to the program "Europe 1 Sport" (every evening from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.) on the highlights they experienced there.

They will have believed in it until the end.

Special envoys from Europe 1 to Qatar during the entirety of the 2022 Football World Cup, Jean-François Pérès, Jacques Vendroux and Cyril de La Morinerie saw a scenario worthy of a film with this miraculous "remontada" of the Blues then trailed 2-0 by Argentina in the 80th minute in the final.

Unfortunately, the end is much less pleasing.

But this final will nevertheless remain engraved in the minds.

Evoking memories of this 2022 World Cup on the

Europe 1 Sport

program (every evening on Europe 1 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.), Jacques Vendroux declared: "We are moved but we are not collapsed because we knows that we have witnessed a historic moment and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful finals of the Football World Cup for 20 years", before continuing: "We know that we have witnessed something extraordinary ."

"It was a roller coaster"

Despite this defeat, the Blues, who came back from nowhere thanks in particular to his genius Kylian Mbappé who scored a hat-trick in the final against Argentina, still wrote their history...and that of many sports journalists.

"I will remember this match all my life", assured Jean-François Pérès, the head of the sports department of Europe 1.

Emotions felt as far away as France: "I remember very well giving you back the antenna, and I remember very well that you were on the verge of no longer being able to speak", launched Jean-François Pérès to his friend Cédric Hunter, then remained in France.

"We went through emotions, it was a roller coaster," confirmed the latter.

Anyway, this final between Argentina and France will long be remembered.

"I've been commenting on football matches for about thirty years and I think this is the first time that "it goes down so low and it goes up so high", concluded Jean-François Pérès.
