Today, the national cross-country team presented the Swedish skiers, seven women and three men, who have already secured a WC place.

Four sprinters presented on the women's side: Jonna Sundling, Maja Dahlqvist, Emma Ribom and Johanna Hagström.

One of the names that was missing is Linn Svahn, who has just made a comeback after a long injury absence.

Linn Svahn was by far the world's best sprinter during the winter of 2020 and sailed up as the big gold favorite before the WC.

But just before the championship, the Swede crashed - and despite the shoulder injury, she made an attempt at the WC sprint.

Svahn made it through the qualifiers, but failed to make it to the final.

- I mostly just want to leave here, said a noticeably disappointed Svahn to SVT Sport afterwards.

When the ski WC in Planica begins with a classic sprint on February 23, Svahn hopes to get a chance for revenge, and be part of the fight for the medals.

But the 23-year-old, who made his first competition in almost two years in mid-December, is not selected for the WC.

Than.

Since Jonna Sundling is the reigning world champion in sprints, she already has a personal place in the event, which gives Sweden five places in total.

Three more sprinters were selected today, Maja Dahlqvist, Emma Ribom and Johanna Hagström.

Who gets the last sprint spot will be announced at the end of January.

Then the final WC places in other distances will also be presented.

The WC in cross-country skiing will be decided in Slovenia 27 February-5 March.
