Sweden has only one place on the men's side and one on the women's side for the European Figure Skating Championship, which will be decided in Espoo, Finland, January 25-29.

On the women's side, Josefin Taljegård is getting used to the place, even though she finished second in this weekend's SM after the stunner Emelie Ling.

- Selections are always a bit nervous, especially when it's a competition that means a lot to me and that I've been aiming for for a long time, which is the European Championship in Finland.

At the same time, I knew that I have done well in competitions during the autumn, which meant that the hope for a place was high, says Taljegård to SVT Sport.

Taljegård finished 15th in the WC in Stockholm 2021 and came 14th in his first EC 2022, which took place just before the Olympics.

- I hope to do even better than the last EC now that I can have full focus on it, she says.

On the men's side, young Andreas Nordebäck takes the place.

Nordebäck, who stepped up as a senior before the season, won the SM gold this weekend and is in 15th place in the season's world ranking.

This means that there will be no EC for Nikolaj Majorov, who has participated in the Olympics, WC and EC before.

Majorov finished second at the SM after winning the celebratory program.

- The selection for the EC has been based on the autumn's competition results, where international competitions and the weekend's SM are included, says sports manager Anna Burwall.

Sweden's top pair skaters, Greta and John Crafoord, are back after almost a year's injury absence and will also represent Sweden in the championship.
