It was during a super-G race in Cortina d'Ampezzo on January 23 that Lisa Hörnblad crashed.

The 26-year-old injured her left knee so seriously that it was not obvious that she would be able to ski again.

But in mid-September, Hörnblad made a comeback at a national team camp in Oslo.

- I think the doctor is still a little shocked that I even ski.

I really didn't think it would go this fast, Hörnblad told SVT Sport at the time.

But now the Swede has suffered a heavy setback.

Hörnblad has suffered from nasty blood poisoning - and has spent six days in the hospital Sophiahemmet in Stockholm.

"Horrible and scary week with two operations and a pain I have never experienced before.

I am stable now and feel okay, but have to stay for further treatment," writes Hörnblad on Instagram.

At the beginning of December, Hörnblad had another knee operation, she says that it was not an extensive operation.

"Now we are crossing our fingers that this is what the knee needs to cope with tougher skiing," Hörnblad wrote after the procedure.

And at first everything looked good, Hörblad was on his way to a camp in Italy.

But at the airport she suddenly started to feel really bad.

"Out of nowhere, the knee started to hurt a lot and it escalated quickly.

I felt really bad, high fever, couldn't move my leg”.

Once at the hospital, doctors found that Hörnblad had suffered from blood poisoning, due to the last operation, and they were forced to open the knee up again.

“The pain before they opened the first time is undoubtedly the worst I have experienced in my entire life.

So, so, so grateful that it doesn't hurt as much anymore," writes Hörnblad.

No more operations are currently planned, but Hörnblad will remain in the hospital for further treatment.

Now she hopes to recover enough to go home for Christmas.
