After several cases of illness, only two Swedes came to the start in today's World Cup sprint in Davos.

But it was still good enough.

For Johanna Hagström, who had four second places as the main World Cup result before the race, finished third.

Fändrich won

Hagström was fastest in both the quarter-final and semi-final and took the lead straight into the final., but gave it up quite early to the Norwegian Tiril Udnes Weng who got a small gap down to Hagström at the end of the first lap.

Halfway into the second lap, Hagström was also overtaken by the Swiss home rider Nadine Fändrich, who moved into the lead and then took the victory after a fine sprint.

Hagström looked in danger of missing the podium, but after a dramatic sprint battle took third place, eight hundredths behind American Jessie Diggins but one hundredth ahead of Weng.
