A shocking comment from Regragui about his assumption of training at Manchester City and Barcelona

Morocco coach Walid Regragui expressed his hope that the performance of the "Atlas Lions" in the Qatar World Cup 2022 would show the eligibility of Arab coaches to train in Europe, which is considered impossible in the current period.

Regragui took over the training of the Atlas Lions at the end of last August, and since that time, the team has not lost any match, conceded a single goal by mistake against Canada, and reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Regragui's short period in charge of Morocco included beating Belgium and beating Spain on penalties in the Round of 16.

The Moroccan national team became the first Arab team and the fourth African team to advance to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, which prompted a discussion about those interested in obtaining the services of Regragui.

But the coach explained the battle he entered in order to get this job, let alone to get the position of coach of Manchester City, or Barcelona.

"Why don't you appoint Arab coaches? Perhaps it is a cultural question, perhaps it is the side of my mind," Rekragui said, during a press conference (this question is likely to be directed to European clubs).

He added, "I think it is impossible for City or Barcelona to contract with an Arab technical director.. They do not think about this matter, as if we do not deserve, as if we are unable."

He emphasized, "But there are moments in history that make people change their minds... It is up to us, the Arab and African people, to show them that we are ready."

After spending most of his coaching career with Moroccan clubs, Regragui said, "I have been a coach for 10 years. No one has looked at me. It is impossible. He has no experience. Let's look at someone else."

And he stressed, "We are in the quarter-finals.. to explain this miracle to me. Experience is not important, it is skills.. Your background does not matter, where do you come from? The most important skills.. If you are not worthy, you can leave."
