A driver of the rally that takes place in Cangas del Narcea was injured this Saturday after colliding with his vehicle against a wall.

His co-pilot suffered minor injuries.

As reported by the Emergency Service of the Principality of Asturias (SEPA),

the driver LV, from Llanes, had multiple injuries, and was evacuated aboard the

Asturias Firefighters medicalized helicopter to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA).

At the expense of more tests and until further medical evaluation, his prognosis is guarded.

The Emergency Coordination Center received the notice at 12:25 p.m.

The call indicated that a rally car had collided with a wall and the driver could not get out.

The Fire Chief of the Southwestern Zone and the SEPA Firefighters based in the Tebongo park were immediately mobilized.

Once in the area, the firefighters found

the damaged car, which had started to burn, with the fire extinguished (it was put out with fire extinguishers)

and with the driver inside.

The firefighters cut and removed the roof of the vehicle and then extracted the injured pilot, immobilized, with the rescue board.

The firefighters carried out tasks of cleaning the road and waited on the soccer field to collaborate in the transfer of the affected person, who, after being initially treated by the medical team of the test, it was decided to transfer to the HUCA, on board the helicopter Asturias Firefighters medicalized, together with the SEPA Rescue Group.

The SEPA room 112 reported the event to the Local Police, the Civil Guard and the Urgent Medical Care Service (SAMU).
