Defending champions France have reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

The two-time world champion beat England 2-1 (1-0) in Al-Khour on Saturday and will play against Morocco on Wednesday for a place in the final.

Aurélien Tchouaméni (17th minute) and Olivier Giroud (78th) scored at the Al-Bait Stadion for coach Didier Deschamps' Équipe Tricolore.

England captain Harry Kane was only able to equalize with a penalty (54') and missed another penalty (84').

The English must therefore continue to wait for the next major title since the World Cup triumph in 1966.

France, on the other hand, are following in the footsteps of the legendary Brazilian side, who won the World Cup for the second consecutive year in 1962.
