Four Swedes made it through the qualifiers, but two of them, Frida Karlsson and Ingrid Hallquist, already smoked in the quarter-finals.
Maja Dahlqvist and Johanna Hagström went in the same semi-final heat, but got tired at the end and finished third and fourth behind Nadine Fähndrich and Julia Kern.
Every now and then there was hope of moving on as lucky losers, but the times were not enough against the significantly faster times of the second semi-final.
