In the semi-finals, Näslund was second for a long time after the German Daniela Maier.

During a jump, they hooked into each other and Maier crashed while Näslund managed to stand on his feet.

Earlier in the race in the very fast course, Sonja Gigler of Austria had crashed and the sled was brought forward when the race was paused but she was able to get down on her own machine.

Näslund got the World Cup season off to a perfect start by winning his first race, the quarter finals in heat 1 by being superior.

The Swede was 1.11 ahead of Gigler, a heat with only three participants.

Last World Cup season, Näslund won eleven out of twelve competitions.

The other Swedish female participant from Sweden, Linnea Mobärg, did not make it in her quarter-final but came third and was eliminated after coming third.

She is part of the Mobärg ski cross family where the two brothers Erik and David competed in the men's class.

Erik was eliminated in the quarters while David was third in the semi-finals and went to the small final where the fifth to eighth would be placed.

The premiere was supposed to have been a month ago in Les Deux Alpes, France, but was cancelled.
