The second division football club FC St. Pauli surprisingly parted ways with coach Timo Schultz and assistant coach Loic Fave.

This was announced by the table fifteenth on Tuesday.

The Hamburgers have thus “drawn the consequences from the negative sporting development in the calendar year 2022”, as stated in a statement.

Co-trainer Fabian Hürzeler will initially take care of the team, which will start training again on December 9th.

St. Pauli will start the second half of the season on January 29 with an away game at 1. FC Nürnberg.

"Timo is a deserved and genuine St. Paulian," said club president Oke Göttlich: "We always have to keep an eye on the overall well-being of FC St. Pauli - and our sporting record in the 2022 calendar year is that of a relegated team.

This must change immediately and sustainably so that we take all measures to keep the class.

The corona pandemic and skyrocketing energy costs are already presenting the club with massive problems.”

Schultz took over St. Pauli in the summer of 2020.

The Hamburg team finished the previous season in fifth place, after having comfortably led the table after 17 match days and dreaming of promotion.
