- We can confirm that Henrik Stenson has notified the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour) and the Ladies European Tour of his intention to step down as host of the Volvo Scandinavian Mixed, says a spokesperson from the European Tour according to Expressen.

Next year the competition will be arranged at Ullna golf club north of Stockholm.

The competition is the only one on the European tours where the starting field consists of both ladies and gents.

The European Tour reportedly does not want to comment on the reason for Stenson's departure.

Scandinavian Mixed, played June 8–11, and clashes with a competition on the LIV tour, which Stenson usually plays on.

Had previously confirmed participation

Earlier this fall, Claes Nilsson, CEO of We Do Sports, the company behind Scandinavian Mixed, stated that Stenson would play the tournament again in 2023 - but that more players will be used in the marketing.

- Henrik is warmly welcome to play.

He is hosting the competition and he has confirmed that he will play.

That's where we are.

But we will highlight some other players also in the marketing, like Linn (Grant) and others.

Not just Henrik and Annika as we did before, Claes Nilsson told Svensk Golf.

After the move to the Saudi LIV tour, the Swedish Golf Association, among others, has chosen to end its collaboration with Stenson.

However, the decision should not be seen as criticism of Stenson as a person, the union has stressed.

The justification is instead that the LIV tour's structure, where players receive invitations instead of qualifying, "is negative for the development of the sport, both in Sweden and internationally".
