Mona Brorsson, who was not allowed to compete in last week's world cup premiere in biathlon, also did not get a place when the squad for this weekend's competitions in Hochfilzen was presented.

- Of course it's boring.

You set your goals and I have had to revise a lot of them.

But it still feels pretty good, says Mona Brorsson to SVT Sport.

- I can only agree with the selection.

At the moment, I had not made any different withdrawal either.

There's no one I'm rooting for at the moment.

I need more time to myself.

The WC objective

Last year's season was strong for the 32-year-old who in the World Cup finished in 16th place overall and she also took the first podium of her career.

It was spiced up with an Olympic gold in the relay.

Now the clock is ticking faster and faster for Mona Brorsson if she is to have time to show off before the world championships which are held in German Oberhof in February.

- The goal is the WC.

There will be a lot of focus on lifting the form for January-February, says Mona Brorsson.

- It is clear that it will be extremely tough to break into that squad, but that is what I want to try to do.

I'm going to compete a bit more in December (the IBU Cup) and hopefully get into really good shape by then, so you can show where you belong, because it's in the big arenas that I belong.

"Got Olympic gold but now I don't place"

What do you say about the competition?

- Last year I won Olympic gold and this year I don't place.

I know I'm good.

That's how it is.

It's a luxury problem.

We talk about it here in the team.

Because we want competition, but I swear it's not easy every day.

In the end, I end up saying that I am grateful that we have a very strong team.

Once you go, then you know you are really good.

- I could also come back in top form and perform superbly, but still not be able to take a place.

It's a reality you have to deal with and it's super hard.

You have to work a lot mentally, says Mona Brorsson.
