Cisse blames the 7 minutes that turned the course of the “Teranga Lions”

Senegal coach Aliou Cisse expressed his grief over the severe loss suffered by the "Teranga Lions" against England, 3-0, in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup.

Cisse said in a press conference after the match that he did not expect such a big loss, noting that "we conceded two goals in just 7 minutes, which led to our loss, but in any case I am satisfied with the performance of my team and thank the players for their efforts throughout the tournament."

He added, "We played a very good match, and the players closed the spaces, but the timing of the first and second goals was decisive in turning the course of the match."

The Senegalese coach expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the players, and said: "Senegal is the African champion and overcame a strong group, and lost to a strong competitor from the teams nominated for the World Cup title."

He concluded, "Sad because of bidding farewell to the World Cup, and we did not fall short of the tournament matches, and we tried as much as possible to continue the journey, and there is still a long way to go to reach the ranks of the international teams."
