Duplantis has an incredibly successful year behind him where he won WC gold indoors, EC gold outdoors and WC gold outdoors.
There he also improved his world record, which now stands at 6.21 metres.
On the women's side, it was Sydney McLaughlin, USA, who received the award.
The 400m hurdler broke the world record twice over the distance and took WC gold at the distance as well as WC gold in the 4x400m.
