Wenger: The teams that focused on the World Cup, not politics, qualified easily

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said the World Cup group stage results showed that the teams that qualified without problems were better prepared mentally and were not distracted by political issues.

Referring to the sudden exit of Germany, Belgium and Denmark from the tournament, Wenger said during a technical analysis of the group stage by FIFA, that the teams that focused on football started well, such as Brazil, France and England, and qualified for the last 16 easily.

"Teams that were mentally prepared and focused on competition and the championship and not on political demonstrations also qualified," Wenger said on Sunday.
