It was on the first lap of the men's mass start that the demonstration took place.

The Norwegian group "Stopp oljeletinga" has carried out several public protests and demonstrations with the message that the climate crisis is exacerbated by the consumption of oil.

The demonstration during the men's mass start was in the form of an unrolled banner aimed at the cameras and by several people also sitting down and lying down across the ski tracks.

After the skiers got past the group, FIS employees were able to lift the protesters away.

Some of the skiers in the lead had to go off-piste to get around the protesters, but overall it didn't have a major impact on the ski race itself.
