The Netherlands national team ended the adventure of its American counterpart, defeating it 3-1, at the start of the final price matches of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, to become the first to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The match was held at Khalifa International Stadium in front of a large audience, which Qatari stadiums are accustomed to during the 2022 World Cup.
The American team had an opportunity to advance early when Christian Pulisic found himself in direct confrontation with the Dutch goalkeeper, but Andres Nobert prevented the ball from entering his net with his feet.
The Dutch response was strong, and after a group of passes, the ball reached Denzel Dumfries on the right side, and he played it with a cross on the ground inside the penalty area. Memphis Depay met it with a focused shot that settled to the right of goalkeeper Matt Turner, in the net, so that the “mills” advanced in the tenth minute.

After this goal, the Dutch players fell back and relied on counter-attacks, but the American team almost equalized the score from Timothy Weah's shot, which was blocked by Nobert with his hands.
American Sergino Dest stormed the penalty area from the right, but failed to shoot at the right moment, wasting a real opportunity to adjust the two shoulders.
In a game similar to the ball for the first goal, Dumfries passed another cross into the box, this time taking care of it by Danny Blind, who shot in the same way as his compatriot Depay, to score the second goal for the Netherlands national team in the 45 + 1 minute.

The American team returned strongly from the dressing room in the second half in order to score a goal that ignited the match, but they collided with Nobert's brilliance on two occasions.
On the opposite side, the American goalkeeper kept his country's chances, when he blocked a double ball in two waves, and before that he pushed Depay's shot away with his fingertips.
From a fatal defensive mistake, American substitute Haji Wright found himself in the face of Nobert, to succeed in overtaking him, but the Dutch defense pushed his ball away from the goal line into a corner.
But Wright made up for his failure to score, after winking at Pulisic's cross in a strange way, and the ball went up and into the Dutch net, in the 76th minute.

The joy of the American team did not last long, because Dumphreys left the goal-making task, and scored a third Dutch goal in the 81st minute, after an elaborate cross from Blind, which the uncensored Dutch full-back sent it into the net, to the right of Tenner, and so the match ended.
