First through Aleksandar Mitrovic who on a cross from the left put his forehead on the ball and spliced it perfectly towards the right post.
After that, it was Dusan Vlahovic who, despite being misdirected with his body, somehow managed to turn around in the closing moments and get a shot off the right post.
But after that the match turned again.
A minute before half-time, Switzerland equalized at 2-2 when Breel Embolo stayed in front of the far post on a low cross ball in the center, and poked the ball in.
And three minutes into the second half, the next goal came when Remo Freuler made it 3-2 to Switzerland.
A lead that Switzerland held on to despite Serbia having several hot spots.
The match really heated up in the second half, where Serbia in particular was annoyed that they didn't get a penalty, and some other rulings.

And in added time, there was also a big fight that resulted in further yellow cards for both Serbia and Switzerland.
But there were no more events than that, and Switzerland secured the play-off spot with the 3-2 victory.
