Frida Karlsson started the WC season in Ruka, Finland, very strongly.

A semi-final place in the sprint, a second place in the 10 km classic – and during the final chase she pulled away from Ebba Andersson to victory.

Thanks to that, Karlsson will start in the yellow leader's vest tomorrow.

- Far above expectations, I think, I am super satisfied.

I guess I haven't felt so energetic, it feels great that I left the premiere weekend with those results.

Now it feels like I've let my shoulders down, notes Karlsson.

Many say "are you really going to run the sprint?"

In Lillehammer, Norway, the 23-year-old will compete again in all three competitions this weekend.

- Partly it is Frida's own wishes, she wants to run everything.

And then we think she has a good chance in the sprint, she was in the semifinals now and I think she can do even better in a skate sprint, says national team manager Anders Byström about Karlsson's setup.

- Many say "are you really going to run the sprint?".

But I kind of have to practice it too – I have to get better at it, says Karlsson.

- I think that I will compete to get in shape, that has been my plan this year.

Actually train at least as hard

What are the biggest challenges of going all out, three races, in one weekend?

- It is good to take care of everything around, have the recovery as good as possible.

We actually train at least as hard as competing three days in a row.

But going forward, the idea is not that Karlsson will run all the races every weekend.

- We have to take care every weekend, it won't work to drive everything all the time, that's not the plan either, says Byström.
