At the World Cup in Qatar, favorites Argentina defeated Poland in the final group stage and advanced to the round of 16 as top of the group.

Argentina beat Poland 2-0 in the last 3rd match of Group H held at the 974 Stadium in Doha, Qatar on the 1st (Korean time).

Argentina, which overcame the shock of its defeat to Saudi Arabia in the first game and defeated Mexico and Poland in a row, advanced to the round of 16 for the fifth time in a row since the 2006 German tournament with a record of 2 wins and 1 loss and 1st place in the group.

Poland had equal points with Mexico with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss, but managed to advance to the round of 16 as second place in the group ahead of Mexico, who scored -1 with a goal difference of 0.

Poland succeeded in advancing to the round of 16 for the first time in 36 years since the 1986 tournament in Mexico.

Argentina will face Australia, second in Group D, for a place in the quarterfinals, while Poland will face France, second in Group D, in the round of 16.

Argentina launched a wave of offensive attacks with their star star Lionel Messi, but Poland's goalkeeper Szczesny made a save and struggled.

In the 36th minute of the first half, Messi scored a penalty kick, but this time it was blocked by Szczesny's save.

Argentina scored the first goal in the 1st minute of the second half with Macalister's non-stop shooting after receiving Di Maria's cross, and in the 22nd minute of the second half, Alvarez received a penetrating pass from Fernandez (Benfica) and scored a shot that passed between two defenders in front of the goal area. It was blown and put a wedge in the game.

At the Lusail Stadium at the same time, Mexico defeated Saudi Arabia 2-1, but finished third in the group and was eliminated in the round of 16.

Mexico, which has advanced to the round of 16 seven times in a row from the 1994 U.S. tournament to the 2018 Russian tournament, has to pack up early this year.

Saudi Arabia, which caused the 'Miracle of Lusail' by beating Argentina 2-1 in the first match, also finished in 4th place (3 points) after losing to Poland (0-2 loss) and Mexico.

As a result, three of the six Asian Football Confederation (AFC) teams participating in the tournament, including host countries Qatar, Iran and Saudi Arabia, were eliminated from the group stage.
