The Swedish cross-country team was responsible for a successful World Cup premiere weekend in Ruka.

On the women's side, they picked up no less than three double victories in three days.

Emma Ribom and Johanna Hagström finished first and second in the sprint and Ebba Andersson and Frida Karlsson each took a victory and a second place in the distance races.

- After a brilliant start in Finland with six podium places and bids for more, we are now looking forward to further tough opposition in Lillehammer, says national team manager Anders Byström in a press release.

Worth noting is that Frida Karlsson will also run double in Lillehammer until the end - both sprint and distance.

In addition, George Ersson and long-distance skier Frida Erkers get the chance to show off.

- The squad doesn't change much after such a successful start, but we get some new names for both sprint and distance, including George Ersson who did such a good sprint in Drammen at the end of last season, says Anders Byström.

Halfvarsson not selected for the sprint

However, Calle Halfvarsson, who was fifth in the sprint in Ruka, is only selected for the weekend's distance race – 10 km free on Friday and the mass start over 20 km classic on Sunday.

The World Cup in Lillehammer takes place December 2–4.
