In Belleville, it's market day on Tuesday, November 29 in the morning, on the central reservation bordered by the road and the truckloads of market gardeners.

Traders are busy with their activities on both sides of the street, which is teeming with people.

Here, between the Belleville and Couronnes metro stations, there are several shops run by Franco-Tunisians – many in the neighborhood.

On the eve of the match between the Eagles of Carthage and the Blues, the employees of the La Rose pastry shop in Tunis say that they do not follow football enough to talk about the meeting.

"But I think France will win because they are stronger," predicts the saleswoman all the same, while her colleague wants to believe in a draw between the two teams.

A little further on, a small Tunisian flag was hung above the loaves and baguettes of the Gourmandises de Belleville bakery.

The boss, Amine, 35, expects "a gala match" between Tunisia and France, with a 2-1 victory for Les Bleus.

He is not satisfied with the course of the Eagles of Carthage since the start of the World Cup-2022: "We have players who deserved to play but they remain on the bench or at home. And then the coach does not have the experience of major competitions," he said.

Zaire, 32, employee at the Tunis-Tunis restaurant, does not say anything else.

For him, the Tunisian team "is zero" for the moment in this international competition (a draw and a defeat before the match against France).

"They are not up to the ambitions that the Tunisian people have, they do not have the level," he adds.

"We are attached to Tunisia and France"

In this restaurant, the decoration is in the colors of the national team: the placemats and napkins are red and white, and a flag of Tunisia sits on the counter at the back of the room.

Zaire continues: "Tomorrow (Wednesday) it's going to be tough against France, we want to play the qualification while the Blues are already in the round of 16. We don't have a very good team but we always have to believe in it. We can to qualify on a feat, we can only hope for that."

Fadi, 23, is also aware that Tunisia "does not have the level of the France team".

"But there is an opportunity to be seized tomorrow (Wednesday) if Mbappé, Griezmann and Dembélé do not play", estimates the one who works in the snack bar Le 122, which offers Tunisian specialties.

Under the television which broadcasts a clip of the Marseille rapper Jul, a giant flag of Tunisia appears in a prime position in the room to be immediately visible to the first customer who comes.

Fadi, despite the unfavorable balance of power between the two teams, thinks that the victory of the Eagles of Carthage is possible: "Saudi Arabia against Argentina, Japan against Germany... There have already been exploits in this worldwide," he said.

He and Zaire both see Tunisia win 2-1 against Les Bleus.

Amara, 50, would also like Tunisia to win.

"2-0, why not", she predicts at the counter of the Délice bakery in Tunis.

But she would also like "France to win the World Cup" for a third time.

"For me, Tunisia and France is kif-kif. The one who will win tomorrow (Wednesday) will be above all the one who will have deserved it".

Like most Franco-Tunisians encountered in the Belleville district, Amine will also be a supporter of both teams: "We are attached to Tunisia and France."
