Morocco conquers Belgium with a historic double.. "Atlas Lions" is in the lead

The Moroccan national team achieved a wonderful victory over its Belgian counterpart with two unanswered goals in the second round of Group Six matches in the 2022 World Cup at Al-Thumama Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha, so that the “Atlas Lions” topped the group with 4 points, and Belgium’s balance stopped at 3 points.

The "Atlas Lions" overcame the difficulties they faced after the shock the team received before the start of the match, with the injury of the main goalkeeper, Yassin Bounou, so that Mounir Al-Mohammadi participated in his place.

The first half witnessed the emergence of the "Atlas Lions" at a very good level, as the team imposed its method of play on the Belgium national team, which relied on the start of Michi Batshuayi, Eden Hazard and Thorgan Hazard.

On the other hand, the Moroccan national team threatened the goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, on more than one occasion, most notably a powerful shot from Hakim Ziyech on the crossbar (21), and another ball from Ashraf Hakimi, who hit instead of playing a cross ball to get the ball out of the field (35).

The excitement rose in the first minute of stoppage time when Hakim Ziyech scored the first goal in a wonderful way from a direct free kick, but the referee canceled the goal for offside.

In the second half, the Moroccan national team continued, and Sofiane Boufal almost scored the first goal from a wonderful individual effort and hit a beautiful ball that passed near the post (56), while the Belgium national team entered the atmosphere of the match after 60 minutes had passed, and Deris Mertens hit a powerful ball that goalkeeper Mounir Al-Mohammadi shone in stopping it.

And in the 73rd minute, Abdel Hamid Sabry scored from a direct free kick, which he deceived in the goal of goalkeeper Courtois, before Zakaria Boukhal added the second goal, so the match ended with a wonderful victory for the “Atlas Lions”.
