Alvaro Morata (62nd minute) initially gave the Iberians the lead at the Al-Bayt Stadium in al-Khor.
Substitute Niclas Füllkrug equalized in the 83rd minute.
On Thursday (8:00 p.m. CET in the FAZ live ticker for the soccer World Cup, on ARD and on MagentaTV), Germany will meet Costa Rica in the last group game, which had previously surprisingly beat Japan 1-0.
Germany must win this game to reach the round of 16.
The outcome of the game between Spain and Japan is also important.
