Ronaldo has been suspended for two matches and sentenced to the equivalent of nearly SEK 632,000 in fines for knocking a mobile phone out of a supporter's hand after a Premier League match against Everton last season.

"An independent regulator found during a subsequent inquiry that his conduct was both inappropriate and violent, and decided on this sanction," the FA said in a statement.

The suspension will follow Ronaldo to his next club, regardless of the country in which he is domiciled.

However, the star's participation in the World Cup or in club team tournaments such as the Champions League is not affected.
