A British TV broadcast commentator took over the 'rainbow armband', which was virtually banned from wearing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 'rainbow armband' was scheduled to be worn in the game with the meaning of opposing discrimination by seven European countries, including England and Germany, who participated in this tournament.

However, on the 21st (Korean time), FIFA warned that if you wear this armband, you will receive a yellow card, and 7 European countries have given up wearing this armband.

In yesterday's Group B match between England and Iran held at Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, BBC commentator Alex Scott wore this rainbow armband and stood in front of the camera.

Scott is an English footballer.

The armband, also called the 'One Love' armband, with the number '1' written on a heart filled with rainbow colors, was started by the Netherlands at the 2020 European Championships to protest discrimination and promote diversity and inclusion.

In celebration of the World Cup held in Qatar, where there is controversy over the human rights of foreign workers and the ban on homosexuality, some countries tried to protest this through the 'One Love' armband and make it clear that they oppose all discrimination.

FIFA, which bans phrases or images with political or religious meanings on players' equipment, eventually banned the use of the armband by announcing that it would issue a warning if worn.

However, that didn't stop a British TV commentator from wearing the band in front of a camera.

Scott said in an interview with British media, "It's not fair to ban it like this on match day morning."

Germany's dpa news agency reported that "German ZDF host Claudia Neumann wore a black T-shirt and 'One Love' armband and similarly colored armband prior to the match between the United States and Wales."

Neumann also criticized FIFA's ban on wearing the armband, saying, "Today could have been a legendary and proud day in World Cup history."
