Jonas Eriksson: "It's pure bullshit on Fifa's part"

It was the Netherlands, England, Wales, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark that had planned to play with a "One Love" tie, but now do not.

The reason was that they don't want to put their team captains in a situation where they risk being cautioned because of it.

But Jonas Eriksson, former World Cup referee, believes that the referees cannot give a yellow card for that reason.

- It is pure nonsense on the part of Fifa.

The judges have nothing to do with political messages.

It's a competition issue and there were loose threats.

But the law folded, he says, and explains why:

- In matters of competition, you can only risk financial sanctions and the like.

It is done by Fifa afterwards and has nothing to do with the referee.
