Football fans in the UAE expect Ronaldo to beat Messi and win the World Cup best player award

Football fans in the UAE have voted for Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player likely to win the Ballon d'Or at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in a survey of more than 1,000 people from across the country, conducted by SoccerTop.

In a statement, Kai Ho-Luchry, co-founder of Soccertop, said: “Cristiano Ronaldo may have fallen out with his bosses at Manchester United, but the Emirati football fans still love him.

And people believe he's going to have a great game and he's going to win the Ballon d'Or.

Where his shirts achieve high sales to a large extent during this year’s tournament.”

Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, won 36% of the crowd's vote, ahead of the Argentine legend, Lionel Messi, who came in second place with 19%. The Brazilian Neymar, the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe and the Croatian Luka Modric came in the next positions.

Football fans in the UAE also voted for their favorite team's shirt for the 2022 World Cup, with Brazil topping the list with 24%.

While Argentina ranked second with 17% of the vote.

And 9% of those surveyed believe that Germany has the best group.

Host country Qatar came in fourth with 6% of the vote, just ahead of England and France.

The Soccertop survey also revealed that people in the UAE believe that football has the potential to bring about positive change, with more than 1,000 respondents answering the question, “Do you think football brings communities together?”

And the result was amazing.

Almost 9 out of 10, or 88% of respondents, agreed on the importance of this sport in shaping stronger communities.
