As you know, Sweden misses the World Cup after losing the playoff final against Poland last spring.

A loss that still stings and is one of the reasons why Robin Olsen does not plan to follow the championship in Qatar.

- That Poland match is still stuck and it hurts incredibly.

So the WC is not something I will watch, I have more fun things for me, he says.

But the Swedish goalkeeper's reluctance also has a political dimension.

- It gets more and more boring with all the writing.

Everything from how they got the championship to how they treat workers.

Now I read that they are going to ban the beer for the fans.

It doesn't make me more interested in watching, I can say.

"The idea is that I will come home one day"

On Saturday, the Swedish national team meets Algeria in a training international match.

The match is played in Malmö, Robin Olsen's birthplace and the club he was both raised in and later played for in the Allsvenskan.

- It feels fantastic, great fun.

It was a special feeling to land with the team at Sturup.

Normally, you sit with your phone and headphones when you sit on the bus with the team.

But all the way from Sturup you just looked out

Anton Tinnerholm has signed for MFF and is coming home, do you have such thoughts?

- Absolutely, but not right now.

It takes a few years.

But the idea is that I will come home one day and end my career here at home.

This is where it started and this is where it will end.

But it will take a few years.

Shines in the national team - tougher in the club team

Since the beginning of the year, Robin Olsen has played in the PL club Aston Villa.

But playing time has been modest and has been a turbulent time in the autumn, when coach Steven Gerrard was replaced by Unai Emery.

Can you bring your achievements in the national team back into the club team?

- Absolutely.

People have talked about the playing time at the club and that I have still come here (to the national team) and performed.

I will always carry that with me, says Olsen.

Sweden meets Algeria in Malmö tonight, the international training match kicks off at 8:30 p.m.
