The Red Devils, the Korean national soccer team's cheering squad, has officially announced that it will promote street cheering for the World Cup in Qatar.

The Red Devils Seoul branch said today (19th) through the Korea Football Association, "We decided to promote the World Cup street cheering at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul." revealed.

He said the decision came after long internal discussions.

The Red Devils explained, "There were a lot of internal concerns until this decision," and "We initially decided that it was not appropriate to hold an event where a large number of people gathered before the great sadness caused by the Itaewon disaster went away."

"Since then, we have held several meetings and changed our mind that it is the more right way to offer true consolation and commemoration in our own way," he said. I'm sorry," he said.

He emphasized, "I want to shout 'Dae~Korea!' in a safer, more sincere, and louder voice to provide a little consolation to everyone while remembering the pain and sorrow."

The Red Devils plan to cheer on the street at Gwanghwamun Square on the 24th and 28th, and on December 2nd, when the national team's World Cup group stage matches are scheduled, once permission is granted to use the square.

The city of Seoul plans to decide whether to approve it after deliberation by the Gwanghwamun Square Advisory Group next week.

The street cheering for the World Cup, promoted by the Korea Football Association, was recently canceled in the aftermath of the Itaewon disaster.

The Football Association canceled the application for permission to use the plaza submitted to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 18th of last month on the 4th.

At the time, the association explained the reason for the cancellation, saying, “It is not in line with public sentiment to cheer on the street at a time when less than a month has passed since the Itaewon disaster.”
