Maria Rooth thinks that Almtuna, in the women's second league NDHL, has chosen to shut down the women's team in order to save the club's finances.

She received the news with dismay.

- I often think that you take the easiest track.

It is often pointed out that the ladies do not withdraw any money.

But you should know that in ice hockey today there are quite a few clubs that would even play and the antaglia would get significantly less sponsorship money if it weren't for the fact that they had girls' and women's activities, says Maria Rooth.

"Must stop making the easy decisions"

Almtuna believes that the team was a loss business with over SEK 600,000.

Rooth doesn't buy the argument.

- Somewhere you have to stop making these simple decisions and blame it on money not coming in.

If you have a little more transparency, you know that there is money that could come in, but it is easy to just pull that card, that they cost too much and they have to go out.

Want sponsors to put their foot down

Rooth hopes that sponsors push the sport to become more equal.

- It doesn't look the same today as it did ten years ago and there is a big difference in what sponsors think about when they give money to associations, this also applies to municipalities with grants.

You have to bet on both girls and boys from the start.

I think the sponsors have more power than they think themselves.

I hope they pull that card a little more often.

It shouldn't be that simple to just lift the ladies away because the money isn't enough.

The money comes in a lot because of them too.

Someone has to put their foot down there, she says.
