14 stadiums have been proposed, including Wembley and Manchester United's home ground Old Trafford, as venues for the tournament.

14 arenas will become 10 before the final application is submitted in April 2023.

Great Britain and Ireland are thus scrapping plans to try to host the men's World Cup in 2030.

The British-Irish candidacy is considered the big favorite as the competition consists of UEFA-banned Russia, as well as Turkey.

"Great Britain and Ireland's history of hosting successful sports tournaments over many decades means we have the expertise and experience to take this world-class tournament to new levels," the federations said in a joint statement.

A decision on who will be allowed to organize the European Championship 2028 will be made in September 2023.
