Costa Rica and Iraq are friendly in Basra tomorrow

The Costa Rica national football team is finishing its preparations before heading to Doha, to participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, by meeting its counterpart and its Iraqi host friendly Thursday in the city of Basra, in the south of the country, which is waiting to host the Gulf 25 in early 2023. The Costa Rican team, which is preparing for the sixth participation in its history, is playing At the level of the World Cup finals, in Group E alongside Spain, Japan and Germany.

This is the third friendly match for the Lions of Mesopotamia during November, after two they played in Spain, losing the first to Mexico 4-0 and drawing 0-0 in the second with Ecuador.

In addition, the Iraqi Football Association summoned seven players to its national team to participate in the friendly match against Costa Rica, after their absence from the Lions of Mesopotamia squad during the last period due to not being called up.

The players are: Mustafa Nazim (Al-Faisaly of Jordan), Hussein Ali (Sfaxien of Tunisia), Sherko Karim (Kuwait's), Ahmed Yassin (Orebro of Sweden), Zidane Iqbal (Manchester United's English reserve), Hussein Ammar and Durgham Ismail.

The Iraqi national team will be led in the Costa Rica game by its new Spanish coach, Jesus Casas, who decided to make his official debut with the Lions of Mesopotamia in the Gulf 25 tournament in Basra.
