Anicet Mbida delivers to us every morning what is best in terms of innovation.

This Tuesday, he is interested in a discovery that could change the quality of sleep for some.

This is a technique aimed at playing music, at key moments of sleep, to make nightmares disappear.

The innovation of the day concerns sleep.

We would have found a technique to make nightmares disappear.

I imagine you've all had a nightmare.

We're having a bad night.

We are on edge.

But it eventually passes.

But for some, nightmares are recurrent.

They come back sometimes, every day.

What poisons life… Not to mention those who suffer from post-traumatic syndromes after an attack, for example.

Well, a team from the Geneva Sleep Lab just found a way to reduce the number of nightmares.

A rather accessible technique since it simply consists of playing, at key moments of sleep, music that is associated with something positive.

Concretely: we install a headband around your head.

This headband will analyze your sleep phases.

And as soon as we fall into the phase where we can have nightmares, it will play the famous positive music and prevent dark thoughts from developing.

What does this famous positive music sound like?

There are several… What we hear, for example.

That is to say sounds whose frequencies have been specially tuned to brain frequencies and heart frequencies.

But don't worry, we won't put this on you all night.

Only during very short phases when you risk having nightmares.

Another technique: rely on any music, but that we will play during the day, while we invent a positive end to our nightmare.

And in the same way, at night, when the headband will play the same music again, it will reduce the chances of having a nightmare.

And it's really effective, has it been proven?

Yes.

After two weeks, the participants had already reduced their number of nightmares by five.

And after three months, they only had one every three weeks, instead of one every two days.

Imagine the relief...

So, for the moment, the technique has only been tested on about forty people, which is quite a few.

But it portends a new type of treatment.

No chemicals this time.

Because until now, we had no other choice but to stuff people with drugs to relieve them.
