"It seems to us a mistake to be promoting electric vehicles exclusively, because

the majority of citizens cannot buy it

, and also we do not have implanted charging stations deployed."

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has taken a decisive step this Tuesday in favor of an intermediate ecological transition for the automotive sector.

Neither go "exclusively" and suddenly to the electric car or maintain the most polluting park.

For this reason, the president of the PP has proposed

"removing vehicles older than 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 years from the roads"

, and encouraging their replacement by others with combustion engines, even, but with less ecological impact .

And, later on, start a similar process, already towards total electrification.

Of course, it would not be a "mandatory" withdrawal, but a "renewal plan" with incentives, they limit the national leadership of the PP.

It is a proposal, he has recognized, that "drinks from the needs of the sector".

Feijóo has announced it in the second edition of expoGanvam, the annual Congress of the National Association of Vehicle Sellers and Repairers (Ganvam) held in Madrid.

44% of Spanish vehicles (16.2 million) are over 15 years old, while

two out of three

(almost 23 million) are over ten, according to a recent study by the Línea Directa Foundation in collaboration with Centro Zaragoza .

The motivation that Feijóo has given to support the end of all these vehicles is that this will prevent

a "rupture" of the system

.

It is an intermediate step that reduces the pollution footprint, he has said.

"Those vehicles "do emit, and we must remove them from the road immediately, to make the transition in an orderly manner and move from old combustion engines to new combustion engines."

For the president of the PP, there is widespread "technological uncertainty", so that citizens do not know which car to buy, and they cannot afford an electric one on the road to "zero emissions".

The leader of the PP has also requested a new Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation (PERTE) of the automotive industry after the "

failure" of the current one,

since 70% of the aid is not awarded.

Feijóo, who has stressed that Spain is at the tail of Europe in the recovery of pre-pandemic GDP and in the execution of European funds, has described as a "serious mistake" that the activities of sale and repair of automobiles are left out of the Automotive Part .

After lamenting his "intense" drop in sales, Feijóo has stated that this is a key sector of the Spanish economy and that "European funds and industrial policies must be prioritized".

For this reason, he has asked to "reformulate" community aid, since Airef estimates that Spain will not exceed 10,000 million executed in 2022, half that of Italy.

Feijóo has also called for lowering "selective" taxes on families, SMEs and the self-employed, because there is a "record tax collection of 28,000 euros more than the previous year."

Other measures that the leader of the main opposition party has put on the table have been "reducing the tax associated with the increase in the registration tax" and requesting "a moratorium on the measures of the green tax expert committee, which increases the burden about fuels.

As well as "assess lowering the hydrocarbons tax, with a moratorium on its application while we maintain this deep energy crisis."

Feijóo has insisted that there is still time to convene a new Perte in the automotive sector and has opted to include vehicle sellers and repairers, which bring together more than 20,000 companies, after the "mistake" made by the Executive by excluding them .

"If the Government does not undertake our proposals, unless it listens to the sector, which represents more than 42,000 SMEs and 35,000 self-employed workers, and which generates 350,000 direct jobs", the head of the opposition concluded.
