Lewandowski expects Germany to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar

Polish international sniper Robert Lewandowski believes that the German team can reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar.

Lewandowski spent 12 years in Germany as a professional.

The World Cup begins next Sunday, and while the German national team was excluded from the list of candidates to win the title, Barcelona star Lewandowski stressed that a team that has won the title four times before can never be excluded.

"The German team has a good mix of old and young players, the team has played a good level recently and certainly can reach the semi-finals, and when you reach the semi-final anything can happen, the German team will be dangerous," Lewandowski told Kicker Sports magazine on Monday.

Lewandowski won the league, cup and Champions League treble in 2020 with Bayern Munich under the leadership of Hansi Flick, the current coach of the German national team.

"I know that Hansi Flick is a great coach," Lewandowski said. "With him, the German national team can achieve a lot in the World Cup."

Lewandowski has more reservations about the chances of his country, Poland, who fell into a difficult group with Argentina, Mexico and Saudi Arabia, in the first World Cup to be held in the winter season.

"Every match will be difficult, the teams will play with more risk because the difference between the first and last match in the group is very short," the Polish star stressed.
